However, what seemed gross and avoidable at first ended up being fruitful and beneficial for me. At first, the workers at the factory saw me as the owners son, something Aldo my brother had warned me about. This made me feel as if I was not trusted and they just nodded and agreed to what I said due to my privileged position. Nevertheless, after they saw, I was not afraid to get dirty this all changed.
All of a sudden, I was being trusted with more complex tasks and they did not mind voicing their concerns and areas from improvements in front of me. They no longer saw me as their bosses son, but instead as a person who is looking to learn the trades of the business to be ready to take over in the future and help the company grow even more. The workers have started telling me their desires to keep growing by buying new machines that will allow DoZibe to be among the best in the industry.
This experience opened my mind into the real world of business and how a company works. I have realized that not because you are the owner of the company you do not need to know the basics of the company, the complete opposite. The more the owner knows about the complex issues, the more respect will he have amongst the workers, and that is precisely what I have been trying to gain. I have been working with the person in charge of the factory floor. When he does not give me any tasks I do not just sit in the office I walk to every worker and machine learning and questioning what they are doing. This allows me to learn how the company works and what isn't working among the workers.
Obviously, right now I am too young to have any real impact but many of the areas I have seen improvements I have talked to my father so he can take matters into his hands and hopefully have an impact on how the company works.
