Yaqua
As the marketing project begun we had to choose a company and work with them to learn what marketing is all about. I chose to work with YAQUA instead of Pepsi because the main focus of YAQUA was much more appealing than that of Pepsi. Yaqua's main goal as a company is to help poor communities in Peru by donating 100% towards funding clean water plants for the impoverished areas. While working with Yaqua we had several experiences that have opened my eyes and changed my perspective of the business world. With Yaqua I had the chance to go to a real business meeting and persuade Supermercados Peruano's that they should sell our product. Nevertheless, after this positive experience I also had a negative one but this taught me how a business shouldn't be run, so in a near future when I have to work on a real company I know what things to avoid.
The email above is from the person in charge of new products at Supermercados Peruanos. Being included in the email was such an honor because in reality we were not really working with Yaqua so they could just omit us. However, during the meeting Dimitri and myself were the ones who delivered the pitch that explained Yaqua and we left a good impression. In my opinion that is why they decided to include us too.
Pepsi
After my negative experience with YAQUA I decided to step aside and go work with the Pepsi group. I was really skeptical about it and didn't really want to do it. However, after reading to "Sell Is Human" by Daniel H. Pink I learned the importance of being flexible and always being willing to adapt to new surroundings. I knew that the key to success was my ability to adapt to this new project and not have a negative attitude towards it. With this new mindset of mine I decided to work as if I had always been in love with the project and make it the best I could. When I was working with the Yaqua group I was in charge of delivering the pitch; for this reason I proposed to the Pepsi group that I do the pitch as I had the experience that none of them had.
The image on the left is a sample of the presentation that was given to me by the Pepsi group, while the one on the right is the one I created. I decided to completely redesign it to make it more eye catching and appropriate for what we were trying to conceive. If you compare both presentations the one on the right (created by me and Dimitri) is much more creative and engaging than the old version. This is due to the fact, that we took into consideration colors, images and fonts that went well with the Pepsi theme.
