As the initial whistle blew I felt a rush of adrenaline run through my body, just like I always do when I watch an important game. However, this time it was different, it was something not like the normal feeling I get.
As I watched the Real Madrid- Barcelona game there was a constant question on my mind that didn’t stop bothering me for the whole match and it still does until this very moment. How is it that sportsmen are paid so much money to entertain us, while those who shape our nations future (teachers) are paid so little? I had never questioned that before, because it seemed like something so normal, but I have come to realize it isn’t.
Why do famous athletes get the chance to drive around in $150,000 sports car and live the luxury live, while teachers who are definitely more important than them, are tremendously undervalued. This aspect definitely needs a solution as it is not something normal, but I know that won't be changed in a near future. This tremendous difference has been there for many years and with each passing one the gap grows instead of becoming shorter.
For that reason, less talented individuals are choosing education as a career and thus, several times those who do choose that path are not actually passionate about it. This causes a negative effect on students as they are not benefiting from first degree education all the time due to an economic problem happening behind the scenes.
While education keeps getting more expensive each passing day parents have to make more sacrifices to be able to afford giving their children A1 level education that will allow them to thrive in the future. Again it is all down to how the government addresses this issue as it is all tied down to economics. If teachers are offered more money then the negative externality of them not wanting to take that career will decrease and more passionate individuals will take the option to become one.
This will allow young pupils to receive education from people who are truly passionate about it and thus, making them enjoy a much better education throughout their lives.
